June 1988 Update

Metal Gear made it's first release, but it was a weird game to get used to, and there's debate as to if it should be included in the metal gear series.  But, the clear standout game in this month was Double Dragon.  This was the original in one of the best arcade-to-console adaptations ever made.  I think over time it became too much of the same thing.  They did make some fighting games, like street fighter style, but the first 2 are probably the best ones.
